Finding someone to play against is the part that usually stops a competitive game before it starts. PakAibo matches you with another player by game, by mode and by a rating close to your own — either by searching for you, or by putting your open lobby in front of everyone else who is looking.
You state the game, the mode and the most you want to play for, and the search looks for someone whose terms and rating are compatible. Best when you want to play now and are not attached to an exact amount.
You set the terms exactly and wait to be joined. Your lobby is visible to everyone browsing matches, including people who have not started a search — often the faster route at quiet hours.
The list of open lobbies shows the game, the mode, the entry and the other player's rating. If one suits you, joining it starts the match immediately.
Dota 2 and Brawl Stars are live. Ratings are separate per game, so the search never mixes a Dota 2 rating with a Brawl Stars one.
Only players who want the same mode are considered. A 1v1 and a 5v5 are different games in everything but the launcher, and pairing across them would produce a match neither side asked for.
The search starts inside a narrow band around your rating. That band is the whole point: a match decided in the first five minutes teaches nobody anything.
If nobody fits, the band widens as you wait, up to a fixed limit. It never widens without bound — beyond a point the game stops being a contest, and no match is better than a pointless one.
When two sides agree, the match is created with the terms both of them already saw. The entry is held on each side's game balance while the match runs.
The outcome comes from the game's own data. Ratings move for both players, and the match joins your history where you can see the mode and the result of your recent games.
Matchmaking that ignores skill produces two bad games for every good one: a walkover for one player and a lesson in helplessness for the other. Narrowing by rating is what makes a match worth playing, and it is also what makes the rating itself meaningful — a number earned against random strangers says much less than one earned against people at your level.
The trade-off is time. A narrow band means fewer candidates, so the window opens gradually the longer you wait rather than starting wide. In practice that means the first minute offers the most even matches, and later ones offer more of them.
Today the search pairs you with an opponent for a match — that is what is built and that is what this page describes. Team formats exist in the platform's plans, and it would be dishonest to describe them here as though you could use them now. When they open, they will be visible in the app the same way modes are.
